Geek Brunch 146 – Parenting Brunch

A few comics are talked about this week as well as a couple of movies and music, but a surprising amount of the show turned into Parenting noise. Most of the talking done by the youngest member (who doesn’t actually have any children). Actually, it isn’t that much of the show. Mike is out in the forest LARPing to relieve some stress so Bill and Micah are joined by Darrel Taylor to talk about Last of the Greats, XIII, the new Ultimate Universe Books, and Snarked. Micah ruins the entire tone of the show by bringing up prose novels he’ really excited about (y’know. books without pictures in them). The trio also talk about a spattering of television and movie titles. Enjoy Yourself, Please.

Geek Brunch 145 – Catching up

Geek Brunch 144 – Tete a Tete

With Mike out this week Bill and Micah have a small tete a tete around geek stuff. They chat it up a bit about the DC books they liked, the reboot as a whole, the high quality of IDW’s GI Joe books, Ian Churchill’s Marineman and Micah’s recent love affair with Franco-Belgian comics. On top of this there’s riveting conversation about new television shows like Terra Nova and older shows like Park and Rec. Micah displays amazing logic when it comes to his television watching in a conversation about Turn-A-Gundam. Bill loves foreign horror movies like “The Horde” and “Troll Hunter” and Micah just doesn’t watch movies. Most importantly the duo talks about cooking up tasty treats and canning salsa. It’s a treat. Listen in and become a smarter person.

Geek Brunch 142 – A Light in the Wake Of Disaster

Hold on to your butts, this is a long one. Mike is out this week doing whatever he pleases and so Micah and Bill are joined by Darrell Taylor to talk comics, tv, movies, and surviving natural disasters. This episode is four hours long. You might need a break at some point in time. This covers a lot of long form chats about comics in general. We do get into specifics on stuff like Roger Langridge’s book “Snarked” and the Japanese Period piece “Hula Girls.” Micah Drops another recipe on the people that’s both easy and delicious, so download this and enjoy.

Geek Brunch 141.1 – Micah Brunches Alone

Apologies in advance dear listeners. Both Mike and Bill are away on secret missions this week, and Micah decided it would be a good idea to talk by himself into a microphone. Yup. Listen to the shortest episode of Geek Brunch Ever (someone fact check this) [NOTE FROM DEREK: Yes, it is, by about 23 minutes.] as Micah tries to pull a Lynne Rossetto Kasper and talk about pancakes. He also has a scatterbrained look at Grant Morrison’s Batman by way of Final Crisis and Ed Brubaker’s Captain America by way of Civil War. He ends with Phineas and Ferb or some such. It’s all rather sad.

Here’s a link to the Grant Morrison article http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/grant-morrison-on-the-death-of-comics-20110822

And here’s to Micah’s blog that he actually doesn’t want you to read hypocriticalhyperbole.wordpress.com

Geek Brunch 140 – Moving Sucks

Look Alive True Believers! With Mike refreshing his juices, Micah and Bill helm the show. On the movie tip, Micah shares his love of Captain America with the you. He and Bill both hop around quickly about trailers and action movies like Conan, Attack the Block, Mission Impossible movies, John Woo Movies, and Chow Yun Fat’s fear of guns. Micah also sighs about never being able to see Solomon Kane, as well as chides Bill about Ratatouille. The duo Liquidates Borders, Love on local Book Stores, and contemplate collecting manga series (like Micah’s now adored Twin Spica). Bill Loves Wrasslin documentaries and drops some history. As far as comics go, Bill chats up Seth’s Wimbledon Green and Justin Madson’s Breathers, Micah goes all novel with Leviathan Wakes, Hunger Games, and A Dance With Dragons. Geek Brunch endorses fresh vegetables.

Geek Brunch 139 – Transform this Cornboy

Mike, Micah, Bill and Timmy THOOM get together to discuss Cornboy, Archie and Friends, Veronica Presents Kevin Keller, Flashpoint, Flashpoint Canterbury Cricket, Womanology, 70s Ms Marvel, 70’s Superboy, 90’s Avengers, Fly #1, That Hellbound Train #1, Paying For It, Joe Matt, Beg The Question, Grimm Ghost, Screamland. They then discuss the Captain America Movie, Transformers 3, Green Lantern, Winnie the Pooh, Talking With Gods, Insidious, Star Trek instant streaming, and Falling Skies.
