Doughnuts and Top Cow Bonus Episode 3: Girl With the Donut Tattoo + Previews

John picked up an indie mini-comic – The Girl With the Donut Tattoo from Cool Jerk Press.  Josh joins along in the discussion about this really entertaining and useful comic (it’s both a sequential art journal AND a cool recipe book!).  Join us as we talk about the mini-comic and a lot of other cool indie book goodness.

After that, Josh walks us through Previews so we know what to order for November delivery!

Doughnuts this week are from Speedway, mainly because the newly opened Dunkin Donuts in Madison was a mob scene this morning!

Thanks, as always, to Westfield Comics.  Visit Josh in person at their East Side location, where he is the Manager.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Bonus Episode 1 – Top Cow Coming Attractions

John and Josh grab a couple brews, pop some doughnut holes, and talk Top Cow comics! We touch base on some future plans, and Josh walks us through the books scheduled for August in the latest edition of Previews.

Doughnuts are holes from Target, which generated mixed results. Beer is from New Glarus Brewing Company, with much more reliable and positive results.

Music this episode is Donut Man by the Dickies. Podsafe music from MusicAlley.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 43.5 – Times they are-a changing

Today we give away a $25 credit to Drive Thru Comics.  Listeners posted their choice for which Top Cow Universe title they would like to see given a “rebirth” following the events of Artifacts 12 and 13.

The guys also give some information about where their regular show will be posted moving forward – at the official Top Cow website and RSS feed.  Come on by, but stay tuned here also – we will post some new shows in 2012 that walk through some other properties like the Witchblade Anime series.

Music on this episode is “Donut Man” by the Dickies.  Podsafe music courtesy of MusicAlley.  Check them out and buy the track, if you’re so inclined.

This week we finish a box of fresh Krispy Kreme classic glazed doughnuts.  Mmmmm.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 43 – Witchblade 153

John and Josh continue to follow Tim Seeley’s run on Witchblade with a look at the recently released issue #153.  The further we get into this story, the more we’re enjoying it!  Even with the excitement of new characters and a new city, some pre-Artifacts elements keep appearing.

We are donut-free this week, unfortunately.  This episode was our first venture into recording via Skype.  We’d love to know what you think about the sound quality.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 42 – Witchblade 152 and Previews

Josh and John take a walk through Witchblade 152!  Listen to us and you’ll be ready to buy 153 (out this week – Feb 15!).  Josh also takes a quick look at Top Cow (and Top Cow friendly) titles in this month’s Previews.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 41 – Pilot Season Wrap-up

Pilot Season voting is done . . . the readers have “spoken.”

This year, there were 8 books to choose from.  In the end, the (unofficial) winner is The Beauty.  Josh and John take a walk through the contenders, compare their strengths, and weigh in on their own votes.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 40 – Tim Seeley in Studio

This week we are joined by Witchblade Writer Tim Seeley!  Tim joined us following his signing at Westfield Comics in Madison, which happened to be the last leg of his official Top Cow #Rebirth Tour!  This episode is a little longer than usual, but it’s worth it.  We had a real chance to pick Tim’s mind and see how he came to write the book and what might be in store for Sara in Chicago.

There is some minor adult language, it is not exclamatory and all of it is used as simple adjectives.

Doughnuts are from Woodman’s Grocery, and they went remarkably well with Supper Club from Capital Brewery!

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 39 – Happy New Year!

We’re having fun this New Years, and we’d like you to join us!  On this special New Year’s Eve edition of the DTC Podcast, listener Jason Punswick stops by to try out some of his stand-up routine, Madame Mirage comes in to do a dramatic reading from Chris Eliopoulus’s Okey Dokey Donuts, and we all kick around some cool things about the Magdalena.

Music on this episode is “Auld Lang Syne” performed by Rockosaurus Rex and the ever-present “Donut Man” by the Dickies.  Podsafe music courtesy of MusicAlley.  Check them out and buy the track, if you’re so inclined.

Doughnuts and Top Cow Episode 38 – Witchblade 150

It is the end of an era . . . Ron Marz finishes his historic run on Witchblade with issue 150.  At 71 issues, he has had the longest run on Top Cow’s flagship title.  Josh and John take a look at the book, pointing out why every Top Cow fan needs to pick it up.

We enjoyed Apple Cider Cake Doughnuts from Copp’s Grocery Store this episode.  There’s also some exciting news about the doughnut scene in Madison for 2012.
